Knee, Hip & Ankle Injuries

Pain in the lower extremity can be limiting to nearly all daily activities including walking, ascending and descending  stairs, sit to standing, squatting and running.  At Alaska Physical Therapy Specialists, LLC we will perform a thorough examination of your range of motion, strength, joint mobility, coordination, observation of your gait pattern, assess your balance and proprioception and identify the tissue involved in your pain.  Along with your referring provider we will work to determine through clinical testing your primary and secondary tissues that are injured. This will possibly include the meniscus, cartilage irritation, joint/arthritic changes, ligaments supporting the joint or a muscular strain.  Your therapist will then provide you with a plan of care and initiate treatment that will incorporate manual therapy techniques including soft tissue and joint mobilization, dry needling, specific exercises for your injury and tissues involved and possibly stretching for range of motion. Extensive education and a home exercise program will be provided to maximize your return to your active lifestyle and prior activities.
